MAUS Fire extinguisher

Cleanup-free, small & extremely powerful. The fire extinguisher of the future is here. The world's smallest firefighter not only fits anywhere, but also puts out fires with something as innovative as potassium-based smoke. This means big savings in time and money if a fire starts in your home, car, boat or workplac

A powder extinguisher stops the fire and then ruins the room: powder down the kitchen line, into the switchboard, through a car interior. MAUS Xtin puts it out with a potassium-based aerosol instead: it absorbs the heat and interrupts the chemical reaction in the flame, and leaves no foam or powder residue. The only damage is what the fire did, and the handheld units are not pressurised — no annual service inspection.

Xtin Klein is the handheld one, the size of a pepper mill: beside the stove, in the glove compartment, on the boat, in a kitchen drawer. It carries CE marking with Module B and E certification, a six-year service life and a five-year warranty, and in Indonesia it is standard in every Toyota Yaris Cross. Xtin Grand has triple the extinguishing power, for larger boats, motorhomes and light trucks. A wall bracket or belt holster keeps it within reach.

Common questions

What kind of fires is it for?

Xtin Klein is the everyday handheld unit for a fire that has just started: smaller grease and cooking-oil fires in the kitchen, a minor engine fire in a car, electrical equipment and engine spaces on a boat. Xtin Grand is certified for fire classes B and C and can also fight class A and F fires, and it is suitable for small electrical fires without destroying the equipment with the extinguishing agent. Never put out a cooking-oil fire with water.

What is left to clean up after use?

Nothing comparable to powder or foam. The potassium aerosol is harmless to people and animals and leaves no extinguishing residue in the engine, the electronics or the interior, which is where most of the cost of a small fire usually comes from — the clean-up and the insurance claim, not the flames.

Does it need annual service?

The MAUS handheld extinguishers are not under pressure, so they do not require annual maintenance. Xtin Klein has a six-year service life and a five-year warranty. A wall bracket keeps it out of dust, water splashes and kitchen grease, and can take a security tab to deter theft.

Does MAUS replace the fire extinguishers my building is required to have?

Treat it as a complement, not a replacement. MAUS is what you reach for first, because it puts the fire out without wrecking the room — but it does not change whatever fire-safety equipment your building, vehicle or operation is required to carry. Keep the required units in place and add MAUS where powder residue would do real damage.
